Peace Love & Brown Rice is a photographic history of the Big day Out music festival told from the tour photographer, Sophie Howart's personal perspective. The journey take sus through each year, beautifully guided from day until night combined the 6 annueal events into one vibrant dream-like day using Sophie's photos, collected memorabilia and personal notation. This is a truly unique publication as there has never been a book produced on this event. Sophie has had an amazing exposure/access to this event through her status as tour photographer and her length of involvement. This makes her take on the each years' events really special. The book showcases not only the colossal nature of the event and the enormous names it attracts, but the backstage/candid moments, the hard work that goes into making it happen, Sophie's personal story and most importantly the kids; the millions of young people who loyally buy thei tickets and show their support year after year!! All this combined with an introduction written by the promoters of the festival describing the early years and the lead up to the first ever Big Day Out, stories from the festival favourites and the emphasis on crowd and punter activity makes this a fascinating piece of work.
